Birmingham, UK – January 15-16, 2025 – In the mid of January 2025, the LUCRA project partners gathered in Birmingham for their fourth consortium meeting at the Birmingham Energy Innovation Centre (BEIC). The meeting served as a platform to update partners on the progress of the different work packages and to discuss the next steps.
The LUCRA consortium recently gathered for a productive project meeting to discuss key developments, share first results, and plan the next steps in our four-year journey towards sustainable biobased chemicals. Over two days, partners engaged in insightful presentations, brainstorming sessions, and strategic discussions on biomass availability, pre-treatment, and bioprocess optimization for succinic acid production.
A major focus was on the integration of sawdust and OFMSW as feedstocks, highlighting logistical challenges, seasonal variations, and the impact of market dynamics. Partners also explored the demonstration phase of the LUCRA biorefinery, safety and sustainability assessments, and the validation of succinic acid-based products. Steering committee members convened to review project risks, upcoming publications, and forward planning.
Beyond technical discussions, the meeting fostered collaboration among work package leaders, ensuring a shared vision for the next phases of the project. With valuable insights gained and actionable steps outlined, LUCRA is making steady progress in developing innovative solutions for a circular economy.
Stay tuned for further updates as we continue this exciting journey!
